Summer in West Texas can be deadly.  Temperatures inside closed
homes can reach 110 degrees.  Many of these homes have no air
conditioning.  Therefore CSS for the last five years has held a summer
fan drive.  The Fan Drive is an effort aimed at community support to
gather as many fans and air coolers during the summer months for
homebound low-income clients helping them better survive summer.

This year's fan drive was held at Lowe's Home Improvement parking lot.  With the help of KNFM Radio and Cumulus Broadcasting's live broadcast,  Lowe's customers see the need, buy a fan and donate the fan on the spot.  A highlight of this year's drive was an anonymous donation of $800 helping to buy air coolers installed by CSS handymen.
